I have just bought the domain “monogramsandmicroscopes.com”, so you can now use this link to access my blog! I hope you all are enjoying your Sundays!
Here are some cute puppies to make your day a little better:
I recently bought this necklace from Purple Peridot and have been meaning to wear it now for a bit. With all the cold weather, however, I have been more concerned with staying warm than looking fabulous (a poor excuse, but true). The bitter cold reminds me that I definitely belong in the south with mild winters. Anyways, I love this necklace! I was skeptical of the tassel trend, but I am now the proud owner of several tasseled accessories and am continuing to grow my collection.
Here is how I wore my tassel necklace today:
I kept my outfit simple so that my necklace really stood out!
Here are some more of my favorite tasseled finds!
1. Marley Lilly Tasseled Keychain. I got this keychain for Christmas and I love it! It makes my keys easier to find and adds a fashionable touch.
2. BaubleBar Tassel Wine Charms. These would make the perfect addition to any dinner party!
3.Tissue Tassel Garland. These garlands come in several colors and would add the perfect pop of color to an apartment or dorm room.
I think I only own one “green” sweater, and it’s not technically green, it’s teal. I will definitely be looking for a green sweater to join my collection this winter! It was so cold today that it was hard to find motivation to wear “real” clothes. My initial instinct this morning was to wear leggings, but I’m glad I decided to put on some jeans and a sweater. I ended up wearing a teal sweater, cream vest, black monogram necklace, and dark wash jeans and black flats (not pictured).
Like what you see? Here is where I got my outfit:
Vest: from Old Navy. Sweater: I got this sweater a couple years ago so it’s no longer for sale, but here is a similar one. Monogram necklace: from Christy Treasure Box on Etsy.
This week I was browsing Etsy and Instagram and I found what might be one of the most fabulous shops ever! Melsy’s Illustrations has tons of amazing fashion illustrations. You can get planners, cards, coasters, and prints with her designs! I got the cards (shown above) and I can’t wait to send them to my favorite fashionistas! I have selected some of my personal favorites (that will definitely be on my Christmas list):
These coasters . (The perfect addition to any coffee table or nightstand)
The Turquoise Vanity print.
The Parisian print
Saturday Mornings print (This is pretty much exactly how I spend my Saturday mornings!)
The Ice Cream Dress print (Because who doesn’t love ice cream)!
Check out her Etsy shop!!!
This week has been full of craziness for me, it started with a biochemistry exam on Monday, followed by phone calls to vet schools on Tuesday, an impromptu trip to Indiana today, and will continue to be hectic as I prepare to take the GRE on Saturday.
I never studied for standardized tests in high school and I still managed to do quite well on the ACT and SAT. When I signed up for the GRE, I didn’t know whether to do what I did in high school or study for the exam. However, since there was more riding on this exam, I decided that I would study. I have definitely benefitted from studying for the exam and using my Kaplan GRE Prep book. There are geometry and algebra concepts that I haven’t seen in 3 years since I took the ACT and SAT, so brushing up on those has been very helpful. The book gives you different approaches to problems (some that I had never seen before, but actually made the problems much easier), the most popular vocabulary words used on the test, and lots and lots of practice.
Now, this might not be helpful for everyone, but I know that I feel much more comfortable with the exam after completing the Kaplan Prep book. Hopefully my studying will pay off on Saturday morning, but all I know now is that I’m going to need a lot of coffee (I have to wake up at 6:00 am)!
