Making a Move (Part 2)

My last post gave some tips on how to prepare for a successful move and now I’d like to share with you some of my favorite go-to items for moving (and even for traveling)! If you can’t already tell, I am very excited to start this new chapter of my life (and to return back south). Ohio has been an interesting experience and has taught me a few things (like how much I dislike winter), but I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

As the packing begins, here are some of the items that are playing a key role in the process!

I love this striped weekender bag, it is the perfect carry-on size when flying and I recently used it on a trip to Alabama and Mississippi. It also is the perfect size to use for an overnight bag for the first night in a new home.

When it comes to packing the majority of my things, I prefer to use these plastic totes instead of boxes because I can keep using them over and over and they come in such cute colors! I also use them for under the bed and off-season clothes storage.

In recent years I have found myself doing more traveling, so I had been on the search for new luggage for quite some time and when I found this rose gold set, I knew my search was over. Not only is it beautiful, but it also makes identifying my luggage at the airport a breeze!

Finally, these Lilly Pulitzer market bags are a game-changer. I use them to  pack shoes, spare odds and ends, clothes, groceries, the list is endless. They are so sturdy that I have been using mine for years with no wear and tear (and let’s not forget to mention how adorable they are!).

Now it’s time for me to brave the rain and head to class!

Stay Fabulous,

Making a Move (Part 2)

Packing for Spring Break

With spring break less than a week away, it’s time to start packing! Depending on where you go, there are many things you may need. I’m heading home to South Carolina (with Thomas) on Sunday and I am getting ready to pack. I always try to make a list of things that I need to pack to make sure that I remember everything.

What’s going in my suitcase for spring break (besides clothes, of course)?

1. Camera. I love my Nikon Coolpix, but haven’t gotten much use out of it lately. Spring break is the perfect time for me to get back into photography. This camera is the perfect mix between a tiny point-and-shoot camera and a DSLR. Here is a newer model of the one I have!

2. Sunglasses. I love aviators, I have 3 pairs and I keep buying more (oops!). Here are some new ones that I would love to add to my collection (and they’re under $6)!

And whenever I bring sunglasses, I always make sure I have a sunglass strap (aka croakie)! I love my Lilly Pulitzer one!

3.  Water Bottle. I’m going to be doing a lot of walking around in the heat, so having one of these is very important. I haven’t decided which one to bring yet, but these two are my favorites!

Contigo Water Bottle                                               CamelBak Water Bottle

I put on a monogram sticker on mine to personalize it (and so that I wouldn’t lose it)!

4. Welch’s Gummies. I have a 7 hour car trip ahead of me (each way), so car snacks are a must. I love Welch’s Berries n’ Cherries because they are made of real fruit and are delicious!

5. Crossbody Purse. These are great when you know that you’ll be doing lots of walking. I have a few in all different colors, but my black one is my go-to. Here are some cute cross body purses!

Or if you want something with a fun pattern, I love this one!!!

6. Playlist. This is not actually going to be physically in my suitcase, but it is probably the most important thing to bring with me for the long drive. I made a 133 song, 8 hour and 24 minute long playlist of some of my favorite songs from the past 8 years (some of which I haven’t listened to in about that long)!

For those who haven’t had spring break yet, have fun! And for those who are just returning from spring break, I hope you had fun!

Spring, Are You Here Yet?

Yesterday was probably one of the most beautiful days I have ever experienced. After months of snow and freezing temperatures, the sun came out and it was warm for the first day in what seems like forever. During the spring and summer, I usually take 70 degree, sunny days for granted. Today, however, really proved to me how grateful we should be for days like that. I opened all the windows in my apartment and was able to walk outside in a dress and sandals. I did have to spend a few hours inside working on a lab report, but as soon as we finished I was right back outside. I bought myself a camp chair and sat on my patio while I studied. I walked around outside while I talked to my dad on the phone. I drove around with my windows down and music blaring. I even started on my spring cleaning. It was a truly beautiful day. Now today won’t be as nice and this week will be cold, but I won’t ever take any warm day for granted again. Even if it’s not so warm, I’m challenging myself to make every day feel as good as yesterday did.

Here is what I wore yesterday! At first I thought it was a little ambitious since the day started at about 50 degrees, but it ended up being the perfect outfit!

Shop the look:

  1. Black Wedge Sandals. I got mine from Payless a couple years ago, but these are similar.
  2. Pink Dress. Mine is an Old Navy find from last year, but this one is also super cute!
  3. Black Statement Necklace. This is probably my favorite statement necklace, I got it a few years back at J Crew! This one is also cute (and also a little less expensive).
  4. Beaded Headband. A friend snagged this for me from the Lilly Pulitzer for Target collection. You may be able to still find one on Ebay, but this one is very similar.

Find of the Day: Lilly Pulitzer

I took a particularly difficult and frustrating exam today, so my roommate suggested that we go to T.J. Maxx for some much needed retail therapy. The stationary aisle is where I spend most of my time in T.J. Maxx and today was no different (although I did manage to restrain myself and not buy any notecards!). I looked down and I saw a big Lilly Pulitzer box and I immediately grabbed it and opened it up, it was a Lilly Pulitzer glass tray for $9.99 (of course I bought it)! Now I’m in the process of finding a place for it in my room!

Isn’t it perfect??? I would say that it is worth a trip to T.J. Maxx to see if they have one at your local store!

I love little pieces of Lilly all around my apartment, and here are a few of my favorite things I have found:

I love my Lilly Thermal Mug ! (I couldn’t find the link to the pattern I have, but this one is super cute too)

I love these key rings, I want them all!!! (They have been added to my Christmas list)

I cannot say enough good things about my Lilly planner. It has been my saving grace this week! Plus, they are $10 cheaper now than when I bought mine over the summer!!!

On a side note: only 2 days till I’m finished with exams and can go home!!!!

Stay Fabulous,

Julia

Morning Routine

Having a morning routine makes my mornings run smoother and prepares me for the day. I wake up to my alarm (or before) and jump out of bed ready to take on the day. To me, this is one of the most important parts of my morning routine. If I don’t immediately get out of bed, I am sluggish and slow all morning. Next I get a cup of coffee (my Keurig is a life saver!) and while that is brewing, I pick out my outfit for the day. Once my coffee is ready I turn on my computer and check my emails and work on my blog. Then I get dressed and pack my bag for class. If I have extra time before I have to leave, then I listen to some music! If I miss a part of my routine, it throws my entire day off, so I try to keep the same schedule. Here are some things that are super important to the start of my day!

1. Alarm Clock. I just have a plain one right now, but I am in the market for a cute one like this.

2. Keurig. I have a red one to match the rest of the kitchen appliances, but this turquoise one is beautiful!

3. Fiestaware Mugs. I love Fiestaware because of their beautiful, fun colors. I use their mugs every morning and this is my favorite color.

4.Spotify. I have Spotify premium so that I can listen to my playlists while I’m driving and while I’m walking to class. They have a student discount for premium and if you want to check it out here is a link.

5. Lilly Pultizer planner. I look at this every morning to make sure that I am not missing anything! You can get the same one that I have here.

Stay Fabulous,

Julia
