Study Break

Exam week has just started and it has already been crazy! I had my first final exam yesterday and although it went well, I was already exhausted. In order to recharge, I went to bed early last night and woke up this morning feeling refreshed. I realized that I was so tired and worn out because I wasn’t allowing myself any breaks. It’s important to realize that no matter how busy you are, you must take breaks! No matter how short or how you spend them, they are important to mental sanity (and overall wellness). This morning I took the time to pick out an outfit and watch an episode of  Grace and Frankie, one of my favorite shows on Netflix!

In order to stay comfortable ,and look semi-presentable, I decided to wear my Pink Azalea monogram shirt that I got over spring break. It is super comfortable and I love the color combination. When I was picking the thread color I wasn’t sure if I would like it, but it ended up being perfect!  I paired it with dark wash skinny jeans and black sandals. I purchased these sandals last year at Payless (they were a steal!), but here are some similar ones (not as inexpensive, but still budget-friendly!).

OOTD: Stripes and Pink

I had my first riding lesson in 3 years yesterday and it was amazing! My new instructor is great and I remembered a lot more than I thought I would. I am very sore today, but I am very happy with my lesson!

Today I am wearing one of my favorite combos: navy blue, white, and pink. This is probably the color combo that I wear the most during the summer, and I am always looking for more pieces to add to my wardrobe!

I’m also wearing some of my favorite bracelets from Alex and Ani! I got my Cincinnati Reds bracelet a few years back once I actually started watching baseball (and enjoying it). After my horse, Lucky, died my parents got me this four leaf clover bracelet to remind me of all my happy times with him. My favorite one though is my “Sisters Forever” bracelet that I got from my little sister (although she’s not so little anymore!). It’s probably one of the sweetest things I have ever gotten and every time I wear it, I smile and think about how lucky I am to have such sweet siblings!

Finds of the Week: 4/21/16

Happy Thursday everyone! I hope everyone is having a great week. I’ve been busy studying for my last two exams of the semester before finals and trying to enjoy the beautiful weather! Here are some of my favorite finds/ articles of the week:

1.New 20 Dollar Bills. Most of you have probably already heard about this, but new $20 bills are being made with Harriet Tubman’s face on them. In addition, other bills will have pictures of women as well. I think this is very cool! Check out this article to learn more.

2.Monogrammed Linens. This Etsy shop has the most beautiful monogrammed linens. From pillow shams to cocktail napkins, they have it all!

3.  Face Masks. I just read this article from College Fashion about the best face masks for all types of skin. I have dry skin and face masks tend to dry my face out even more, so I can’t wait to try out the masks that they recommend for dry skin!

4. Robotic Horse Lift. Researchers in Saskatchewan are working on developing a robotic lift to help horses recover after fracturing limbs. Many horses can’t make it through recovery since they are so large and often develop secondary problems, so this has the potential to save many lives. Read more about this innovation here.

5. Here is a cute foal to make your Thursday a little brighter!

Stripes and Such

Today was a busy day full of classes and meetings and I made sure to dress comfortably. With a cold front coming through, I was restricted to the few sweaters I have left in my closet after my closet change from winter to spring. I love this magenta colored sweater because it goes great with navy blue, which just so happens to make up a large percentage of my wardrobe! My tortoiseshell necklace is another statement piece that I pull out at least once a week. This navy blue and white tank top is one of many in my wardrobe, but they are all slightly different!

Shop the look:

  1. Magenta sweater. Mine is an Anne Klein find from a few years ago, but this one is very similar.
  2. Navy Blue Striped Tank. I found mine at Walmart for $4, this one is similar and more fitted.
  3. Monogram Necklace. This one is a gift from my aunt, but this one from Etsy is also super cute!

And to make your Monday a little better, here is a picture of a cute little polar bear family!

Packing for Spring Break

With spring break less than a week away, it’s time to start packing! Depending on where you go, there are many things you may need. I’m heading home to South Carolina (with Thomas) on Sunday and I am getting ready to pack. I always try to make a list of things that I need to pack to make sure that I remember everything.

What’s going in my suitcase for spring break (besides clothes, of course)?

1. Camera. I love my Nikon Coolpix, but haven’t gotten much use out of it lately. Spring break is the perfect time for me to get back into photography. This camera is the perfect mix between a tiny point-and-shoot camera and a DSLR. Here is a newer model of the one I have!

2. Sunglasses. I love aviators, I have 3 pairs and I keep buying more (oops!). Here are some new ones that I would love to add to my collection (and they’re under $6)!

And whenever I bring sunglasses, I always make sure I have a sunglass strap (aka croakie)! I love my Lilly Pulitzer one!

3.  Water Bottle. I’m going to be doing a lot of walking around in the heat, so having one of these is very important. I haven’t decided which one to bring yet, but these two are my favorites!

Contigo Water Bottle                                               CamelBak Water Bottle

I put on a monogram sticker on mine to personalize it (and so that I wouldn’t lose it)!

4. Welch’s Gummies. I have a 7 hour car trip ahead of me (each way), so car snacks are a must. I love Welch’s Berries n’ Cherries because they are made of real fruit and are delicious!

5. Crossbody Purse. These are great when you know that you’ll be doing lots of walking. I have a few in all different colors, but my black one is my go-to. Here are some cute cross body purses!

Target Quilted Crossbody

Or if you want something with a fun pattern, I love this one!!!

6. Playlist. This is not actually going to be physically in my suitcase, but it is probably the most important thing to bring with me for the long drive. I made a 133 song, 8 hour and 24 minute long playlist of some of my favorite songs from the past 8 years (some of which I haven’t listened to in about that long)!

For those who haven’t had spring break yet, have fun! And for those who are just returning from spring break, I hope you had fun!

International Women’s Day

Happy International Women’s Day!!! I hope y’all are having a fabulous week! It is finally staying warm in Ohio, so I am one happy camper. Plus, I only have 11 days till Spring Break! Anyways, today I’d like to share some of my favorite recent finds:

1.Who What Wear for Target. This collection is great! My favorite pieces are the High Neck Lace Top and the Bardot Dress.

2. This picture from Ms. Magazine really made an impression on me! Women need to stop fighting against each other and start fighting for each other!!

3. Monogrammed Athletic Clothes. Now that it’s warm out, I’ve been running in the mornings, and what is better than working out in monograms? Marley Lilly has monogrammed seersucker tank tops, athletic shorts, and athletic skirts.

4. Coffee Table Books. If you are looking for great coffee table books, I highly suggest getting Occasions, Style, and Manners by Kate Spade. I just purchased them and I love them!

Dreaming of Warmer Days

With all the cold and snow, I’ve found that looking forward to the warm weather keeps me happy. All my favorite brands are putting out their spring lines, spring break is a short month away, and the weather might be warming up (it is supposed to be 60 degrees here on Friday, but we’ll see)! Now is the time to snatch up all of those cute outfits you plan on wearing over spring break (I’ve already started). I have put together some of my favorite finds so far:

I love the color of this J. Crew dress, it is perfect for spring (and it also comes in a fabulous green)!

It’s no secret that I love colored shorts, and these Crown & Ivy shorts come in the brightest variety of colors (I’m in love).

I love the scallops on this bikini top (and it’s less than $30!).

Screen Shot 2016-02-15 at 8.15.43 PM

These BCBG sandals come in a range of colors (this one is my favorite), and would be a great addition to any shoe addicts collection!

And if you can’t tell that I love scallops, here is the perfect monogrammed bag for spring break from Marley Lilly (plus if you buy it now, you can get a free baseball cap).

I’ve been meaning to get a pair of Kate Spade Keds, but I haven’t been able to find a pattern that I really love. Well this has changed, I love these floral ones!

Spring will be here before we know it (at least I hope so)!
